5G is the next generation of mobile network technologies, the 5th generation to be exact.Although expected to release as early as 2019 though its not expected of 5G to be widely available until 2020.5G is one of Gartners leading technology trends for the future estimating that it will account for as many as 1.1 billion connections by 2025.The mobile industry will be changed vastly as features start to change how users interact with each other with faster downloads, streaming and enchanced performance. In terms of customer use 5G will bring instantaneous responses and increased performance an example of this would be the concept of self-driving cars these will only be possible with 5G mobile networks due to the sheer need for instant uosates and responses in terms of where the car will be driving too, traffic lights etc.Galmeto.com states in an article on 5G that its "driven by 8 specifications" these being 10gbps data speeds and increase of 10x-100x that of 4G.It is aimed to offer 100% coverage and is destined for 99.999% coverage after its initial rollout. In terms of upcoming features compared to its predeccessors speeds will double that of what was available with 4G LTE,3G brought a promise to what could be achieved in the future. In terms of explaining how dramatic the change could be between 4G and 5G,4G has allowed me to make video calls instantly with good qukaity whilst 5G has the power to allow people to download highly demanding video games at a fast speed.freewifimaxinfo claims 5G will take all delivery prospect out of business prospect.Reduced Latency is a feature of 5G that may go unrecognized to anyone uneducated on the subject.Essentially,Latency is the dealy between making a request and it being carried out.Two good examples of latency as found on vectonemobile.co.uk are "When the gamer hits a command button, a high level of latency reduces the command being processed by seconds, and delays the action happening on screen" and "when you press 'play' on Netflix, there will be a pause between your pressing the button and the process being carried out".The solution to this,5G which by 2020 may allow us to stream games and watch high demanding film even with 4K displays which should be implemented by then without problems.Although its going to be a year or two before 5G launches changes may occur in terms of features by then,However, features certainly wont unimpress as technology companies begin to create chips to allow 5G work with their phones.
Technical Issues
5G is sure to bring many technical issues at launch.Consumeras will have a very small choice in terms of mobiles unless they have the latest technology which can be costly. It may take a year or two to reach a larger audience. From Jacek Kibilda of the IrishTimes.com "This quest for speed is influencing much of the research and development." I agree with this statement as it is clear that 5Gs most demanding feature is partially its biggest inticement for mobile networks investing in it
Advantages and Disadvantages of 5G
Advantages of 5G is
Advanatages and Disadvantages of 5G
Being a new generation of networking technology in general the technology is trying to add advantages whilst minimising its diadvantages.5G will bring a alrge amount of advanatges for all of its appliances. It has the power to bring technology together on all platforms and create the ability to have more products under the same network e.g smart appliances. From www.tutorialspoint.com a list is made up of advantages of the technology for the common person. These include controlling PC's by handsets, education becoming easier for example a student in another part of the world could tak part in classes as long as they have a sufficient connection.Medical treatment will also become easier as doctors will be able to treat patients located in other parts of the world.Government monitoring will allow the government and higher powers to offer easier investigation and monitor parts of the world this correlates with the advancements of the technology on drones whther used on locating a missing person or natural disaters. On the other hand, disadvantages of 5G technology is the technology is still under research and with the changing times of technology could change features very quickly. One disadvantage I belive is true is the speeds the technology is claiming to achieve.Parts of Ireland can barely retain 4G in 2018 and with 5G claiming to have 99% coverage by after 2020 it seems very difficult it will be advanced in Ireland at least. As stated earlier old devices will not be capable with 5G technology meaning they will need to be replaced by expensive new phones.Ongoing security and privacy issues will also come into play on the use of the technology.
Applications of 5G
5G will fuel businesses ranging from education, retail, transportation, healthcare and smart homes. It's predicted 5G will benefit entire economies and society. It will bring in trillions of revenue.Low Latency which is possibly in the milliseconds with 5G is critical in applications such as autonomous driving and mission critical applications.RfPage.com states 5G wireless will create more jobs as it will allow for greater oppurtunities.Smart home appliances such as the Phillips Hue lighting system are coming to market today Smart products 5G will allow these appliances to have more functionality as even more devices will be able to connect to the same network with faster connectivity due to its low latency.I previously stated from a separate article that 5G will help on delivery services.Logistic and Shipping companies will also benefit from 5g in their applications for tracking, fleet management, database management, staff sign-in and real time tracking.Smart farming is another industry that seems relatively quiet but may become larger as new farmers take into account of new equipment.5G will allow farmers to take control of livestock and manage them.Healthcare is another critical application that will be utilized by 5G.Medical practioners will be able to perform advanced medical procedures from across the globe.Apple and Samsung have incorporated basic medical kits into their devices allowing for the tracking of blood pressure, fitness, medical cards etc. these are very basic and I believe will grow as an advanced connection is around the world,no excuses.Self driving cars are another feature ive noticed is only capable with advanced wireless connections.Low latency is significant for autonomous cars as they need to know ever traffic light, car and stop around them.I believe if successful autonomous cars might force a wireless technology to be implemented in all cars so 5G technologies can work with all stops on the road.Every decision is going to be important in autonomous driving so cars can reach their destination safely. In my opinion 5G will play a large role in everyday-life from mobiles to smart appliances the possibilities are endless if it truly lives up to expectations.
The IoT is predicted to create a massive increase in the number of devices and connections across wireless networks. Some are predicting that billions of devices will be connected to the networks. Although many of these will only be sending and receiving relatively small amounts of data, they will create new demands in the total volume of data and managing the physical number of connections. In current 3GPP-based networks, there are control plane limits on the number of users that can be connected, and scheduling limits to numbers of users transmitting or receiving on speci c network nodes, and this limit is unlikely to be su cient to handle the growth of the IoT. Hence new scheduling and access control mechanisms will be required, as well as reducing the amount of control plane signaling for IoT users.
